4-H Camps

Vet Camp: 4-H will have two Texas 4-H Veterinary Science Camps this summer. We are implementing an application process through Qualtrics for the camps this year. Please have interested Texas 4-H members complete to application that is due by 5:00 pm on April 19, 2018.

  • Open to Texas 4-H members 12—18 years old as of September 1, 2018
  • Texas A&M University: $175.00
  • West Texas A&M University: $175.00

  • West Texas A&M University: July 23-25, 2018
  • Application is due by 5:00 pm on April 19, 2018
  • A selection committee will review the applications and accept 25 for each location
  • Applicants will be notified by May 1, 2018 regarding application results
  • *Applicants will be notified if they are accepted/denied.
  • An application does not ensure entrance into the camp. The camp is limited to 25 participants at each site.

Wildlife Conservation Camp: Applications are now open for the Wildlife Conservation Camp sponsored by the Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society.  Applications can be completed by visiting http://www.wildlifecamptx.org/.  Complete camp details can also be found on that webpage.  Applications must be submitted by May 1, 2018.  Space is limited so encourage your 4-H members to explore and apply soon for this hands on, broad experience surveying and learning about the habitats of Texas, the wildlife we live with, and the management techniques and careers encompassing our wildlife.  For more information, contact the Extension Office.

The 2018 4-H Shotgun Day Camp will be held June 10-13 in Brazos and Burleson counties.  The application for the limited youth and adult positions is currently open on 4-H Connect.  Below is a document containing more details of the camp and the application procedure.  Also attached is a document referred to within the Day Camp information which is a list of hotels set up on a 4-H block for participants’ use if desired.  Please pass this information along to your interested youth and coaches.

Milam County 4-H provides 4-H members with day camps within Milam County as well as some District and State 4-H Camps. Below are some opportunities for the youth of Milam County to participate in.

County Camp:

Dates: July 6-8th

Deadline to register for County Camp: May 31st

Location: Lakeview Methodist Conference Center, Palestine TX. (Transportation and all fees will be the responsibility of the parents)

Ages:  for 4-H members grades 3rd-8th with 4-H members grades 9th-12th serving as Teen Leaders.  (For school year 2017-2018)

Cost of Camp:  $125 for campers and teen leaders, $85 for adult chaperones.  Includes:  meals, lodging, snacks and t-shirts

WANTED: Teen Leaders:  Senior age 4-H members are needed to help as workshop leaders or group leaders.  Please let County Extension Office know if you are interested in being a leader.

June 11th– Teen Leader Training, Waco, 9:00 AM (Mandatory for those wanting to be a workshop leader)

Please pre-register by calling the Milam County Extension Office at 254-697-7045. Pre-registration is required so we know how many supplies to buy!

Fun Day Camp: June 8: This FREE Fun Day Camp will be offered from 9am-12pm at Bea’s Kitchen in Thorndale. The Day Camp is for ages 5-8 (or those entering K-2 grade next year) who want to learn more about 4-H and do some fun and exciting crafts for the summer. Other activities including learning 4-H pledge and projects to do in 4-H! This year, wear swim gear because we will do some wet activities.

FCH Day Camp: July 19th What is FCH Day Camp? Family and Community Health Camp relates to 4-H projects like food and nutrition, consumer education, and clothing and textiles. At FCH Camp we will be doing some really fun hands on activities related to these projects!!! Time for this camp will be from 9am-4pm and lunch will be provided. The cost of the camp is FREE! The FCH Camp will be held at the Abiding Lutheran Church in Cameron, TX. Ages will be for 5-18 year olds (or those entering K-12 grade this coming year).

TEXAS – Texas Brigades is accepting applications for the 7 wildlife and natural resource-based leadership camps for summer 2018. These youth programs are held across Texas and the limited spaces are filling up fast!

Texas Brigades is a wildlife and natural resource-focused leadership development organization for youth (ages 13-17).  Each camp is an intense, all inclusive, five day experience led by some of the top wildlife and natural resource professionals in Texas. Approximately 200 youth from throughout the state of Texas are typically served.

These programs feature quail, deer, bass, redfish/marine species, waterfowl or livestock, with an aim to equip youth with the resources and determination needed to make a difference in conservation and land stewardship throughout their lives. Through this experience, participants are introduced to habitat management, hone their communication skills, learn to work together as a team, and develop a land & conservation ethic.

  • – North Texas Buckskin Brigade, Warren Ranch, Santa Anna, July 22-26.


Texas Brigades is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with AgriLife Extension, Texas Wildlife Association, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, USDA-NRCS, as well as universities, conservation groups, local soil and water conservation districts, private businesses and individuals with an interest in wildlife and youth leadership development.

Applications may be found and completed online at https://www.texasbrigades.org – due March 15th.  The all-inclusive tuition is $500 per cadet per camp.
