4-H Facebook: Don’t forget we have a 4-H Facebook page!!!! We post 4-H Blasts, 4-H contest results and neat opportunities to do in 4-H! Make sure that you “see us first” in your settings. Step 1: Like the Page, Step 2: Click on Following, Step 3: See First, Step 4: Turn Notifications ON! Then you will see all 4-H posts when they arrive!

Ag Product ID: Calling all 4-H kids looking for a useful and FUN project, WE WANT YOU to join AG Product ID! Are you interested in learning more about what you eat? We learn to identify and study facts about all the fruits, vegetables, crops, and meats grown and produced in the state of Texas. We will be meeting on Wednesday, February 20th at Bea’s Kitchen at 5:30. We hope to see you there!

Mardi Gras Bash Scholarship Fundraiser: The Chris Holcombe Scholarship Event is in just 10 days!!! If you have not purchased your tickets, stop by the 4-H office in Cameron, The Rockdale Reporter in Rockdale or Rodenbeck’s in Thorndale. If you have an item to donate to the auction please drop it by the 4-H office or by Ideal Poultry. Let’s keep raising money for Milam County Students for scholarships! The event will take place Saturday, February 23 at 6pm at St. Monica’s in Cameron. Tickets are $10 and $5 for children under 18. It is a great way to help at a County wide scholarship fundraiser and someday you might benefit from this scholarship. Scholarship applications usually come out in April.
County Council/Club Manager Meeting Dates:
County Council will kick back in gear in January! The following are the dates for County Council:
Monday, April 15th, 5:30pm, Thorndale Chamber of Commerce (Teen Issues/Driving- Healthy Ambassadors give presentation)
Monday, May 20th, 5:30pm Cameron, Bea’s Kitchen (Officer Election)
Tuesday, June 25th, 5:30pm, Cameron, Bea’s Kitchen (Club Manager Training, Recordbook Judging)

Ronald McDonald House Community Service:
Ronald McDonald House:
We will be meeting at the Temple Ronald McDonald House on Monday, March 11th at 10:30am. We will be delivering coke tabs and wish list items. Items can be delivered any time before the 11th of March. Coke Tabs may also be donated. Community support over the last 28 years has helped this House serve over 9,000 families from all over the world. Donations, large and small, have helped the House feel like a home for people living through tremendously stressful times in their lives. Whether it’s a batch of homemade cookies, a home-cooked or purchased meal, handmade blankets, videotapes or DVD’s, or packaged snacks, each gift warms a heart. Items to donate:

4-H Fusion: Join the District 8 Council Officers for a FREE interactive workshop to increase your leadership skills and improve your 4-H club! The event will be held March 2nd from 4-6pm, in Belton. Please click here to register and get more details: http://agrilife.org/d84h/4hfusion/ This event for 3-12th grades.
Government/Debate Contest- Milam County:
The competition will consist of juniors and senior high school students and each team of two persons who will compete against other two person team(s) from the County. All the teams will be given the same written civil case appellate case and each team will argue their respective side of the case before a panel that will include Judge Youngblood and County Judge Young among others. Milam County will furnish the written problem and help with student preparation. Milam County Judge Young will also help tutor the students and will have lawyers who will assist with this as well. If you are interested, contact our office and we will send your name to your respective school. The schools will be coaching and preparing the students for this competition. The two-day competition is now set for April 23 and 24.
County/District Photography Contest: If you are interested in participating in the County and District Photography Contest, please see the website for more information: https://counties.agrilife.org/mc4h/projects/photography-contests/ Deadline to enter on 4-H Connect is March 18th. Entry fee per photo is $5. Sorry, no clover kid entries.
2019 Salute to Excellence Awards: Deadline: April 1, 2019
The 2019 Volunteer Recognition Packet has been released and nominations are now being accepted for the Salute to Excellence recognition scheduled for Wednesday, June 12 during the 2019 Texas 4-H Roundup. Nominations are now open to recognize volunteers, donors and AgriLife personnel for their continued commitment to the Texas 4-H Youth Development Program. The six recognition categories are:

Please take a few minutes and nominate individuals or groups for their efforts. We all know the value of our volunteers and donors, don’t miss the opportunity to publicly recognize them.

District Roundup:
Roundup is not a roundup of cows but rather a Roundup of all sorts of 4-H talent and speaking opportunities! There is public speaking, educational presentations, and Share the Fun Talent. If you are interested in any of these and want to participate in the 4-H Roundup on May 4th at District, please mark your calendar to attend the April 15th, Roundup Orientation Night at the Thorndale Chamber Building at 6:30pm after the County Council Meeting. We will go over each of the opportunities and then have a few kids give speeches to get the idea on how to do it. It will be fun and a great life skill to obtain! Last day to enter the District Roundup is April 17th
