Bosque County Feral Hog Abatement Program

Steps to Start:

  • Step One: Fill out an Application and W9 (completed annually). Click HERE to download.  Turn this into the County Judge’s Office located on the 1st floor of Courthouse in Meridian, or bring to the Class.
  • Step Two: Attend Educational Component. This One-Hour class will be held at the Bosque County Extension Office (104 S Fuller in Meridian), Cost is $10. Only need to attend one time.
    • Classes will occur at Noon on October 13, 2023; January 12, 2024; April 12, 2024; July 12, 2024 at the Extension Office.
  • Step Three: Hunt, Bosque County Feral Hogs!
  • Step Four: Hog Damage and Control Survey.
  • Step Five: Turn in Feral Hog Tails at Bosque County Courthouse 3rd Tuesday of month from 4pm to 6pm, until bounty money is gone.

Pertinent information:

  • All pig tails surrendered must be captured in Bosque County.
  • Bounty is $10/tail. (as approved in Commissioner’s Court 9-18-2023)
  • You must be legal to hunt in Texas to participate, this includes a Hunter’s Education Class.
  • You must attend the Feral Hog educational program offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to be eligible to collect the bounty.
  • The bounty will not be paid to commercial buying stations.
  • For the health and safety of our participants and volunteers, we will only accept feral hog tails in a sealed, transparent plastic bag with a maximum of 10 tails to the bag.
  • Tails must be frozen.
  • Completed and notarized applications may be submitted to Bosque County Judge’s Office, located on the 1st floor of Courthouse.
    • **Exception to this is in February 2024, the collection will be held on February 27 (not February 20), as the Commissioners are at continuing education out of County.
